Week of September 12 to 18, 2026 · written October 23, 2026 from that week's filings
In 45 years, I've learned that the headlines rarely make it into the Quiet Room. This week the loudest news on our shelf was a sale that never happened. Sometimes the most useful thing an owner does is nothing at all.
Larry Ellison had a plan to sell Oracle shares on a set schedule. This week he cancelled it. Not one share had been sold. Oracle filed a notice anyway, about a sale that never happened.
The filing doesn't say why, and we won't guess. But it reminds us of something about money. The loud news is what people buy and sell. The quiet news is what they choose to keep, and who they trust to run things.
A neighbour who pulls up his "For Sale" sign hasn't done anything. You still learn something. He's keeping the land.
Watching for action comes naturally. Noticing who stays put is the rarer skill.
That's the Quiet Room question: who is in charge, and are they staying? This week, one owner shows staying put, and one company shows a new boss arriving.
Oracle: the sale plan is cancelled.
Larry Ellison is Oracle's Executive Chair and Chief Technology Officer. On September 12, Oracle said he had cancelled his plan to sell stock. The filing says "No Oracle stock was sold under the plan prior to termination." It is the shortest kind of news: nothing happened, on purpose.
Lululemon: a new name on the door.
Heidi O'Neill started as Chief Executive Officer on September 8. She joined the board the same day. The two interim co-CEOs, Meghan Frank and Andre Maestrini, handed back the job. Ms. Frank stays on as Chief Financial Officer.
