Week of October 3 to 9, 2026 · written October 23, 2026 from that week's filings
Quiet weeks are the ones most people skip. Nobody reported results this week. But four companies made decisions that will show up in results for years.
Not one company on our shelf reported results this week. In the same week, Stryker named its next chief executive. IES finished a purchase worth about $691 million. Lululemon hired two senior leaders into new jobs.
Results look back. Decisions about people and purchases look forward, and they arrive on their own schedule. Most of us pay attention when the numbers come out, and drift off in between. The in-between is often where the work gets decided.

Patience isn't only waiting for results. It's also paying attention when there are none.
That's the Quiet Room question: who is running the place, and what are they buying? This week, two companies show new leaders, one a purchase done, and one a purchase waiting.
Stryker: a planned handover at the top.
Kevin Lobo steps down as Chief Executive on December 31, 2026, and becomes Executive Chair. Spencer Stiles, 50, takes over January 1, 2027. He has spent 27 years at Stryker. Nobody will need a map of the building.
Lululemon: the new boss builds her team.
The brand chief and the supply-chain chief leave November 6. Maggie Gauger, former President and CEO of Athleta, becomes President and Chief Product Officer on October 26. Joseph Godsey, from Walmart Canada, becomes Chief Operating Officer that day. Both jobs are new.
